With the van already
loaded there was just the last few items to pack, the checklist to
complete and shut the house down, having arranged for our good
neighbours to keep an eye on things such as clear the post, water the
plants etc. We still didn't (quite) make our target time but it was
really of little matter as we had all day. A call at the doctors to
collect some tablets and we were good to go.
Our good friends Colin
and Tina, with Woody their Yorkie, had asked if they might join us in
their new van and we had agreed to meet up at our planned overnight
stopover close to Girvan. As it happened we decided on a lunch stop
at Gretna Green so sent them a message and after a pleasant run
across the A69 met them there, later continuing together through
Dumfries and Galloway to a quiet layby.
Some restrictions had
been introduced so we parked in the lorry/bus bays and of course were
joined by trucks at various times but they didn't really disturb us.
However the weather was slowly deteriorating, as forecast, and we had
rain and blustery winds most of the night, not boding well for the
ferry crossing!
